Central Focus: The Customer!
More excerpts from “Thank God It’s Sunday!” by Bernard Smalls
“In my years as a corporate trainer, I found that all great organizations have a certain mindset about excellent customer service. Their central focus is always the customer. I believe it is high time that we learn the good virtues from the great organizations and then take it to another level through God’s great love for humanity.”
“This may be challenging for the super ‘religious’ folks, but God said in Luke 16: 8, the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. Why did God say they are wiser? When it comes to dealing in the everyday practical affairs of business and making money, the children of this age are often wiser than the average religious Joe.” The Minister proclaimed, “The Gospel of Customer Service is simply wisdom and common sense. However, Zig Ziglar says, ‘Common sense is not always common practice!’”
“I know it’s obvious that I am really passionate about customer service. If you were to take a knife and cut me open, customer service excellence would bleed out of me. (But don’t try it… I don’t like the sight of blood).”
FORD HAD A BETTER IDEA
The late Henry Ford was passionate about taking care of customers. He certainly had it right when it came to customer service he said;
“ I f We Are Not Customer Driven, Then Our Cars
Won’t Be Either! ” Henry Ford
The Minister asked, “Does God know anything about service?” A handsome, heavy set, well-dressed, black gentleman in the normally calm auditorium shouted, “Amen bro!” “Let me use a theological phrase for emphasis. Many customer service representatives need to repent and believe the Gospel of Customer Service. We have all seen customer-endearing signs at businesses such as:
MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYBODY!
NO CHANGES OR SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED!
ALL SALES ARE FINAL!
Remember, we are talking about the Gospel (good news) of Customer Service; not calling down fire and brimstone on people that bring us complaints.”
“There are three major factors or principles that, when understood and properly implemented, make an organization excellent in customer service. You could call these the triple bottom line to super customer service.”
The three spiritual principles are:
1. A Meaningful Service VISION
2. Customer-Oriented PEOPLE
3. Customer-Friendly SYSTEMS
